You are so excited! You and your team were just contacted for your first paranormal investigation. Granted, you watched every Ghost Huntersepisode since the dawning of their show but you still are not sure what to do.
Prep the Ghosthunters
First, make sure that you and your team are ready to go into a haunted location by having proper paper work in place. Some states require that you are registered as a business. Other times, they will let you go as long as you have insurance. No insurance? Sometimes you can escape around it by listing yourself as a not for profit, and signing a waiver liability with the client or location which states that you enter at your own risk. A good team will never charge a penny for an investigation even though some accept donations for equipment.
Ghost Hunting Equipment
Next, make sure that you have your basic equipment. Most investigators are investigating by eye and ear only. This is a good way to go. Some are strictly video and photography. This, too, is another good way to investigate. Others like to have every tool of the trade. A quick search on amazon.com with the words ghost hunting equipment will give you a great display of cheap, used, and new equipment.
Treat Ghosts With Respect
Finally, when you enter the location you need to be professional. Do not go in drinking or doing drugs. Most locations will request that you are not under the influence of anything on their property. Do not swear on haunted locations. Negative energy attracts negative energy and can cause the spirit(s) at the location to become agitated or angry. Do not tell the ghost "I am better than you", "you sucked when you were alive", or any other demeaning comments. Once again revert back to the rule that negative attracts negative. Remain positive. Do not run around screaming or yelling. It accomplishes nothing. Remain focused on the task at hand, try to keep negativity down, and enjoy your first investigation.
