Taking the State Licensing Exam
Missouri does not have a pre-licensing education requirement. Other states such as New York and New Jersey require its insurance producers to sit for a predetermined number of hours to satisfy their pre-licensing education requirement. After taking the classes, the candidate is given a Certificate of Completion which allows them to sit for the state licensing exam. Missouri insurance producers don't have such a requirement.
Although the Missouri Department of Insurance does not require its producers to take pre-licensing courses, it is strongly recommended that anyone wishing to sit for the exam take the study time and/or preparatory courses necessary to pass the state exam.
