The car parts have quit rolling, the ambulance is gone, and the police have filed a report. Now, it is time to file a car insurance claim. The agent has done this before and will make it fairly easy.
Submit the Claim
The insurance agent has the policy number connected to the customer’s name. He (or she) will ask a lot of questions:
- what happened
- who was driving
- were tickets issued, and to whom
- what was the police report number
- was anyone injured
- describe the other vehicle (owner, driver, tickets, injuries, insurance) or the structure involved
- where the vehicle is now (owner's possession or repair shop)
- any other information that seems relevant
Most claims report forms are able to record any claim imaginable, meaning that each section only has limited space for a response. He will try to condense the accident into 25 words or less and forward it to their experts.
